Alex just turned 16, and Gabriel, his best friend, want to celebrate in Mexico, where the two teens can be themselves. They're going to drink shots, hook up, all while in drag, to Gabriel's delight and Alex's surprise. But when Gabriel's car breaks down, the boys turn to Pancho, a Mexican cowboy who might or might not be gay, to get them across the border. Hijinx ensue.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
GABRIEL - 15-18, male, Latino-looking preferred, flamboyant, loud personality, a bad boy in pink. Risky and controversial but doesn't care what people think.
YOUNG GABRIEL - 8-13, same as above only younger.
ALEX - 15-18, Latino-looking preferred, conservative, preppy. This honor roll student is easily influenced, but also irritated by Gabriel. He's dying to come out, but terrified to do so.

PANCHO - 25-35, male, Latino-looking preferred, a Mexican cowboy, macho on the outside but with a heart of gold. Just broke up with his "girlfriend."

INHABITING THE CHARACTER - a workshop
Saturday, tentatively July 13th
11am - 5pm (w/ 1 hr lunch break)
@Holiday Inn in Santa Fe - 4048 Cerrillos Rd, 87507
$50.
for adults and teens 15+
This is an intensive workshop designed to help you inhabit the characters you play. Numerous methods will be taught, as there is no one "right" way in. If you have truly made the character your own, you will not have any difficult improvising and creating the reality of the piece.
If you know how to do this, you have the necessary base of an actor and can easily add whatever technical skills you need (ie camera technique, etc). Without this, however, you will not be able to truthfully inhabit the character and the character's world and will be only left with 'tricks' that can never ring with truth.
In order to do the most work and receive the most benefits, preparation is necessary.
Please choose a script - either a screenplay or stage play - that has a role appropriate for you. (Choose something you could conceivably be cast in - age, gender, type appropriate.)
Please choose a script from a film or play you have not seen. (We do not want your rendition of another actor's interpretation.)
Read the script. Pick a scene from the script you would like to work on. Bring 3 copies and the entire script to the workshop.
Do as much as you can on your own - create the reality of the character, the world of the character and the relationships. Learn the scene.
If you have difficulty with any of this, you may write for assistance.
Please RSVP and send a deposit of $25. to reserve your spot to:
Genia Michaela
933 Calle Carmilita
Santa Fe, NM 87505
Class size is limited.

Improv/Drama Camp with Harry Zimmerman
The art of theatrical improvisation offers kids a fun and exciting means of
tapping into and expanding their imaginations, while nurturing important
life skills such as listening, focusing, thinking on their feet and thinking
outside of the box. The classes will be taught by teacher, actor, director,
Harry Zimmerman, whose numerous film, television and stage credits make him
a sought-after, working professional in the business. Students will learn
how to awaken their own playfulness, ingenuity, creativity and energy. By
working in groups, they will learn problem-solving skills, and will
experience being an important and integral part of a whole. It is a great
means for students to explore the wonderful world of who they are and allow
them to find the greatest potential in themselves and in each other.
In addition to improv techniques, Mr. Zimmerman will give the students an
overview on preparing for auditions, for both camera and stage, and what to
expect and what to do when you get there. He will offer the students one-on-
one work with real television, film and stage material, including: cold
reading techniques for stage and camera, improving cold reading skills and
the learning the language of the business. Vocal technique classes will
also be a part of the curriculum, teaching the students how to project and
use their voices correctly to provide the most impact.
The camp will culminate with an Evening of Improv performance for friends
and family.
Where: Triple Threat Performing Arts, 12700 San Rafael, NE, Albuquerque
When: July 6-10
Cost: $285
